New deal sees Italian GP keep at Monza till 2031

The Italian Grand Prix at Monza will stay on the System 1 schedule till a minimum of 2031.

Monza, the oldest monitor on the calendar, has signed a six-year extension to its current deal.

The transfer comes after modernisation works have been accomplished on the monitor, the oldest on the calendar, in time for this yr’s Italian GP.

F1 president and chief govt officer Stefano Domenicali mentioned: “Monza is on the very coronary heart of System 1 historical past and the environment every year is exclusive because the tifosi collect in big numbers to cheer on Ferrari and the drivers.

“The latest upgrades to the circuit’s infrastructure and the deliberate funding present a powerful dedication to the long-term way forward for System 1 in Italy.”

F1 had demanded upgrades to Monza to lift the amenities to a extra trendy normal. They have been funded by the governments of Italy and the Lombardy area.

Angelo Sticchi Damiani, the president of the Car Membership d’Italia, mentioned: “Monza is the oldest racetrack on the earth to host a race of the World Championship, and it is usually the longest-running occasion on the World Championship calendar.

“We’re all conscious that historical past is now not sufficient.

“Following the resurfacing of the monitor and underpasses to enhance the protection on monitor and for the followers, we at the moment are confronted with a brand new problem in 2025: bettering the standard and amount of hospitality choices. With this purpose in thoughts, we’re already working to maintain forward of the requirements required by trendy System 1.”

Monza first held the Italian Grand Prix in 1922 and it has staged the race yearly for the reason that F1 world championship began in 1950, aside from in 1980, when the monitor was closed for renovations.
