New Hyundai signing Adrien Fourmaux says he already feels “fairly snug” inside his new World Rally Championship environment heading into subsequent week’s Monte Carlo season opener.

Fourmaux emerged as the important thing participant within the driver market after deciding to maneuver from M-Sport-Ford to Hyundai, the place he’ll pilot the Korean marque’s third i20 N Rally1 entry on a full-time foundation.

The Frenchman had a busy low season settling in at Hyundai that included an outing on the crew’s testing facility in Finland and victory in Rallye Nationwide Hivernal du Devoluy in December, earlier than he undertook a pre-event Monte Carlo check in France final week.

Whereas Fourmaux says it’s troublesome to really feel completely ready for the challenges that Monte Carlo will current, he feels he has rapidly gelled with the i20 N.

“It [testing] has been actually optimistic for us however the large check for us was the Devoluy rally and I believe that was a very beneficial expertise with the [new Hankook] tyres and the automotive,” Fourmaux informed Motorsport.com.

“Final Friday was good too as we had been fortunate to get some frost within the morning and humidity earlier than full rain within the afternoon, so we had blended circumstances and a few snow, so I really feel fairly ready.

“However for Monte Carlo you possibly can by no means really feel ready. You’ll all the time wish to attempt extra [settings] as there are such a lot of completely different circumstances.

“I actually admire the crew put me in place to get confidence within the automotive earlier than Christmas, and in addition we did two days of testing in Finland with the brand new automotive on snow, so I’ve pushed quite a bit in December with the automotive.

“I believe you all the time want a rally to really feel snug. I keep in mind final 12 months and although I knew the Puma there are all the time adjustments and you might be looking out a bit bit.

“However after the check and the Devoluy rally, I really feel fairly snug, so I simply hope we are able to do rally.”

Fourmaux believes the i20 N is simpler to drive now that hybrid energy has been faraway from the automotive as per the brand new 2025 technical rules.

“Now we have misplaced a variety of weight so the dealing with of the automotive is simpler and nicer [to] drive, however we now have misplaced some energy for certain, and drivers all the time need extra energy,” he added.

“However the weight is a giant factor, particularly on gravel, it is going to be fascinating. I like the brand new rules however for me politically it will have been good to maintain the hybrid, however that is what the FIA and the promoter have determined.”
